Elaborate engraving and small pearls decorate this graceful late 19th-century pendant and earring set. Filigree scrollwork and dangling drops embellish the set's classically Victorian forms. The chandelier earrings show remnants of black tracery enamel; the pendant has lost its enamel, but that does not detract from its beauty. The set is gold-filled, the long-wearing alternative to gold that was popular in the last quarter of the 1800s. The chain and post earring tops are modern replacements. Each piece is marked "CLAP" on its back. This set would make a great start to a budding antique jewelry collection. Circa 1880.
"Clap" is believed to be Harvey Clap of Daggett & Clap, established in August 1882. D & C made a variety of ladies' goods, such as buttons, bracelets, initial goods, novelties, etc., in gold-filled metal.
Details.....The earrings measure 1.95" long and are .44" wide. The pendant measures 1.12" by 2.07", and its chain is 18" long. In Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of the charm.
